The definition of Reiki:

Many people are puzzled when they hear about different types of Reiki, as they believe that Reiki is only the technique that Dr. Usui transferred – and any other method should have another name. When Dr. Usui received the new treatment technique, the word Reiki already existed in Japan.

Dr. Usui did not name his technique as Reiki . He called it Usui Reiki Ryoho for people to understand that it is a unique type of reiki. With the presentation of other therapeutic techniques similar to the Usui Reiki Ryoho, but with different vibrations and results, has now been ascertained that the entire system of healing methods can be called as Reiki. Analyzing reiki given to Dr.Usui, we find four different qualities that recognize the technique Reiki.

These four qualities can be defined as follows:

• The ability to give Reiki derives from the initiation rather than from the repetition of a capacity through meditation or other exercises.
• All the techniques of Reiki are part of a tradition. The technique goes from teacher to student through the process of initiation, starting from those who brought the technique.
• Reiki is not asking anyone to drive energy in his mind, it is guided by a higher power that knows what vibration or what combination of vibration is needed.
• Reiki can not hurt someone. If any healing method has these four qualities can be considered as a reiki technique. Article written by William Lee Rand
